How do I calculate the volume of sheet boards?

The volume of sheet material is calculated as the product of the area (m²) and the board thickness (m). For example, 10 m² of boards with a thickness of 18 mm has a volume of 0.18 m³. The calculator performs this calculation automatically.

What is the practical use of the volume of sheet materials?

Volume in m³ is needed when ordering material from suppliers, calculating transport costs, managing stock and comparing the prices of materials sold by volume.

What is the difference between the area and the volume of sheet materials?

Area (m²) expresses the surface of the boards without taking thickness into account. Volume (m³) also includes thickness and is key for calculating weight, transport capacity and storage space.

Does the calculator work for all types of sheet materials?

Yes. The volume calculation from area and thickness applies to any sheet material – OSB, MDF, chipboard, plywood, plasterboard and other boards of the same thickness.
